Joel Franceschi
Program Manager, US Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization (SATMO)
Joel retired from twenty-three years active military service in April 2016. Following, he began employment with GovSource Incorporated (GSI) as a team lead, responsible for managing the program of instruction for an ISOF training course at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC) in Amman, Jordan. After three years as the team lead, Joel was promoted to Program Manager of this contract and other associated contracts within GovSource. In December 2020, GovSource was purchased by IDS International where Joel was hired as the United States Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization (USASATMO) Programs Manager, where he is presently employed.
Joel enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in November of 1990 where he served four years as an Infantry Rifleman to Team Leader with the 1st Bn, 7th Marine Division. Following service in the Corp, he joined the US Army in March 1996 as an MLRS Crewmember where he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma until attending Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) in January of 1997. Upon graduation from SFAS, Joel spent one year attending the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Once he graduated the SFQC, he was assigned to ODA 093, Charlie Company, 3rd Bn, 10th SFG(A) in Fort Carson, Colorado as a Special Forces Communications Sergeant, Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 18E. While serving with 10th SFG, he deployed twice to Iraq and twice to Kosovo. Joel obtained the rank of Sergeant First Class in 2004 before commissioning through the Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Fort Benning, Georgia in August 2006, as an Infantry Officer.
Following the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Joel was assigned to 2nd Bn, 327 IN, 1st BCT, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky as a Platoon Leader where he deployed a third time to Iraq. Following his assignment with the 101st, he attended the Maneuver Captains Career Course in Fort Benning, GA. After graduation from the MCCC, he was assigned as a Ranger Instructor with Bravo Company, 5th Ranger Training Bn, Dahlonega, GA. Upon completion of his assignment with 5th RTB, Joel was assigned to the 1st Bn, 501st IN (ABN), 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry, at Fort Richardson, Alaska as an Assistant Operations Officer and deployed to Afghanistan. While deployed, Joel took command of Comanche Company, 1ST Bn, 501st IN (ABN) where he served as the company commander for 18 months, prior to taking his second command of Cheyenne Recruiting Company, Denver Recruiting Bn. Joel retired from twenty-three years of active military service in 2016 and immediately signed on with GovSource Inc., where he worked as a team lead to program manager. In 2020, GovSource was purchased by IDS International, where Joel signed on as the program manager for all USASATMO contracts, PEO-Stri and a US Navy contract operated in Djibouti, Africa. Presently, Joel continues his employment with IDS International in his current role as USASATMO programs manager.
Joel is married with three children and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Touro (Trident) University.
